Women's Shelter
Thanks to the generosity of community members answering God’s call to care for women experiencing homelessness in Geauga County, GFRM is honored to share that our mission of opening an emergency women’s shelter has become a reality. We have officially purchased a location for the women’s shelter and are now preparing for house restorations. The improvements include creating additional bedrooms, updating insulation and piping, installing new plumbing, and building a second story to provide complete guest services. We are deeply grateful to the many volunteers and organizations for their financial support and services to make this emergency shelter possible. As we move forward, GFRM seeks additional volunteers, skilled tradespeople, and sponsors to help with the shelter upgrades.
On the journey to opening the GFRM Emergency Women’s Shelter, we have witnessed firsthand the following truth:
God provides. The path to locating, purchasing, and opening this women’s shelter has been a long journey. This journey included challenges, learning opportunities, and moments of uncertainty. But this journey revealed the extraordinary generosity and compassion of individuals seeking to help those most in need; brought together our community; and demonstrated how Christ answers prayers time and again—in ways better than ever imagined. God always provides.
We are excited to continue on this journey. We are humbled to soon open our doors to women struggling with homelessness. And as we take this next step, we invite you to prayerfully consider:
